This is the third story in Changing Personalities (Yes, I know, lame name), the series about 16-year-old magic-user Kaylee Barom.
Chapter One[]
Kaylee lay in the Hospital, sleeping dreamlessly when Flamestorm broke into her room! He growled, "Kaylee! Wake up!" Kaylee woke up in scared surprise. He blasted fire at her, and she took the blunt of the damage. She activated her forcefield and called for help. A worker came to her and watched in horror as a fire-user tried to kill a magic-user! She yelled, "Stop, villain! You can't kill a patient!" Flamestorm yelled, "I don't care! She nearly killed me!" Kaylee said, also coughing, "Only to save a 15-year-old and her mother! You were going to end their innocent lives! You already killed the father!" Flamestorm said, "You kill innocent and young people as well!" Kaylee yelled, "No, I don't! Not anymore!"
Don't let your past define you.
Chapter Two[]
The worker said, "Stop fighting, you two! If you don't, I'll get the manager!" Kaylee looked to the left, sadly, remembering what happened:
Kaylee was lying in the Hospital, weak from malnutrietion and minor poisoning. Her parents had fetched the manager for their weak daughter, but he'd stolen a citizen's gun and used it against the teenager! Unfortunately, Kaylee's father had sacrificed himself for his helpless daughter. The Hospital workers had abused her. One time, they called her down for lunch, but they used the teenager as a source of entertainment, forcing her to dance by telling her she wouldn't be fed if she didn't. People laughed at the teenager, lowering the car's self-esteem. She was forced to dance until she collapsed, and many people just laughed at her, and she cried there, causing more laughter. Kaylee got a tiny bit of food, and she felt humiliated, exsaunted, sad, and hungry. Workers and paitents alike laughed as she struggled to get back to her room. She pleaded for help weakly, but was left to her own devices. When she did get to her room, she fell onto the non-carpeted floor, and couldn't help but fall asleep there. Kaylee dreamt that they forced her to dance until she died of exsauntion. The people in her dream laughed when she died.
Chapter Three[]
Kaylee choked up. "Please don't." The worker looked at her with concern. "Why?" Kaylee looked at her, heartbroken. "He tried to- to kill me." The worker said, "That's nonsense! He would never kill a fly!" Kaylee gave her another sad look, saying, "Would he hurt a fly?" The worker said, "Maybe," not getting Kaylee's catch. Kaylee's eyes clouded and said, "Then he'll hurt me." As if on cue, the manager came in and scowled, "Oh, you're here." He hit Kaylee several times in front of the nurse, who realized the hard way that Kaylee was right. She watched in shock and horror. He threw the unconscious (auto) body of Kaylee into the bedside stand, and it toppled on top of her and caused her to bleed when the lamp shattered on top of her! He laughed sadistically as she bled. Flamestorm laughed as well and high-wheeled him. The worker teared up as the young magic-user bled. She tried to stop the bleeding, but did not succeed. Then, Kaylee's mom came in. Seeing the wooden floor stained with gasoline, she gasped with horror. "What sicko did this!?" The worker said tearfully, "The manager. He beat her up and threw her into the nightstand."
Chapter Four[]
Kaylee's mother teared up and touched her daughter's side. "Your life isn't even worth anything here, isn't it?" Kaylee slowly woke up and muttered, "Mom." The worker looked at the young life before her, and felt awful that she didn't believe her the first time. The nurse knew the recovery was prolonged because of the teenager's injuries. And that would probably lead to more danger for Kaylee. The nurse laid her tire on the teenager's left headlight. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I refused to believe that my boss is a monster." Kaylee softly murmured, "It's okay," as she fell asleep. Kaylee's mother and the nurse gently lifted the sleeping car onto the bed. The worker waved bye to the teenager's mother. She waved back. She called a Humane Rights worker soon after Kaylee woke up. Kaylee had told her the flashback and what happened on February 28th. She was shocked by the cruelty. She told the worker that the teenager had faced insane cruelty in the Hospital. The worker said, "Okay, I'm coming over. This nonsense will not stand!" She visited Kaylee and squeezed her tire and asked, "What is the most inhumane thing they did?" Kaylee answered, "The boss aimed a gun at me and tried to kill me, but my father was killed instead." She looked down and teared up. Again, the HR worker squeezed the teenager's tire for comfort reasons. "Then they poisoned me with a little amount of food. That was my final meal for that visit. Before that, they used me for entertainment, forcing me to dance or I wouldn't be fed. 'Fed' meant itsy-bitsy amount of bread. A bunch of people laughed at me. After the torture dancing, when I collapsed, they fed me the amount of food and left me to my own devices after being publicly humiliated and danced to near fainting." The HR worker said softly, "So they starved you?" Kaylee looked down and half-closed her eyes in sadness. "I was used for cruel entertainment."The words were marked with shock and sadness, some anger.
Don't use someone solely for entertainment.
Chapter Five[]
The worker asked, "What the cruelest thing they do here?" Kaylee answered, "The manager beat me up and threw me into the nightstand, and the lamp shattered on me. I don't know what happened after that." Then a cop came in. "Kaylee, you're under arrest!" Kaylee said, "Aren't you supposed to let the person fully heal?" The cop replied, "Only if they're fatally injured. and in which case, you're not." Kaylee said, "The manager beat me up and threw me into the nightstand!" The cop said, "You have too much blood on your hands, so you're coming with me!" Kaylee looked at her tires. "No, I don't. I don't have any!" The cop said in a tone where it sounded he was slapping an imaganary forehead, "What I mean is that you killed too much people, idiot!" Kaylee said, "I know, but-" The cop yelled, "I don't care!" He knocked Kaylee off the bed! He grabbed the car-cuffs and arrested her.
DON'T kill people, obviously!
Chapter Six[]
The cop took Kaylee to prison, and aggressively threw her into the cell! She groaned, "Oww..." The cop laughed at her. Then she had a horrific thought. What if they starve me?? If the Hospital did, the prison surely would! Kaylee got hungry as soon as she thought about the dark possibility of being starved. Kaylee whispered, "Please don't starve me." The cop said, "What did you say, idiot?" Kaylee whispered meekly, "'Please don't starve me'." The cop smiled evilly. "Ooh, that sounds fun! Starve the Bad Girl!" Kaylee cried and said, "No, sir, please! I was starved in the Hospital!" The cop yelled, "I don't care, idiot!" He yelled, "Yo, guys! We're gonna play a fun game: Starve the Bad Girl!" A female cop said, "That sounds kind of... cruel." Most cops began chanting the inhumane game's name. Kaylee cried and said, "I don't want to die young in prison!" Nobody cared about what she said, and a week later, she was at the edge of death's door. The female cop looked at the faint teenager. I can't just let her die! She gave the dying teenager a bowl of mac-and-cheese. Kaylee happily ate it, and the light in her eyes was restored. A cop with the cruel "game" said, "Why'd you feed her!? She was about to die, until you intervened!" The cop said innocently, "I couldn't just let her die. That's cruel." The cruel cop watched Kaylee devour the mac-and-cheese. He scowled and tased her! Kaylee gasped and said, "What did I do?" He growled, "You ate." Kaylee's eyes teared up. "But I'm hungry..." The evil cop yelled, "No one cares! Shut up!" Kaylee looked down sadly and began to cry. Nothing but pain would reach her next week.
Chapter Seven[]
By the middle of next week, Kaylee was so weak that she couldn't get off the ground. It also didn't help that she was lashed with a belt every time she pleaded for nutrion, which was alot. By now, Kaylee's pleas were so quiet they were near impossible to hear. But they would still beat her for simply trying to survive. Kaylee watched her mother come in. She lifted her tire to say hi. Her mother yelled, "What the-!?" Kaylee said weakly, "Mom." Her words were beyond weak, to the horrified shock of her mother. She was holding Oreo Bites, and Kaylee saw the medium-blue packaging. She pointed to them. "Those for me?" She whispered. Her mother gave her the Oreos, and Kaylee ate them happily. A police officer was raging mad, and he injured Kaylee so bad she lost consciousness! Kaylee's mother said weakly, "What?" The cop said, "Do you not understand that Kaylee will die here? LET HER DIE!" Kaylee's mother looked heartbroken. "But she's my only daughter!" The cop bent on cruelty said, "I don't care!" Then he yelled, "Everyone, come here! Someone just fed Kaylee!" A cop aimed his weapon at the now-helpless youth. Kaylee's mother yelled, "Why are you guys starving my daughter!?" The cop with the gun aimed at Kaylee said, "Keep complaining, and she will be shot." The mother said, "But she's helpless to save herself! That isn't fair at all!" He put his tire on the trigger, not hard enough to shoot. "The girl has one minute to live if you keep complaining about her treatment." Kaylee stirred, and her mother's eyes popped open with excited happiness. Kaylee noticed the weapon pointed at her, and pleaded weakly, "Stop." The officer turned to the youth, fire in his eyes, saying, "Shut up." And shot the gun.
Chapter Eight[]
The bullet missed Kaylee, but by a mere two inches. There was terror in the young car's eyes, and the officer aimed at her more accurately. He was about to shoot, until Kaylee's mother hit him, and hard, causing the bullet to go array, luckily for Kaylee. The chief caught the officer trying to murder Kaylee in cold blood. He yellled, "Get away from that teen, Officer Xavier!" Officer Xavier said, "No! This girl will die!" The chief tased him and had him arrested for attempted murder. Poor Kaylee was crying with trauma. The chief took her out of the cell and sent her home with her mother so she wouldn't be killed or die of starvation. Kaylee whispered, "Thank you, sir." The chief smiled softly and said, "Bye." Kaylee stayed quiet for the rest of the day, except for saying "Hi" and "I love you" to Daniel. He looked at his sister. "Are you okay?" Kaylee said, "A little traumatized, that's all." She didn't want to worry her young brother too much.
